Beauty

Rachael was simply beautiful! Scaritt Bennett is such a great location in Nashville for portraits.

Saturday afternoon with Baby Grace

Today we had our second session with Grace for her 6 month pictures. She is sooo sweet. I love working with her and her family. We had her Grandparents there today and had a lot of fun getting to know each other and playing with Grace. I am looking forward to meeting everyone for our Thanksgiving family session. It will be a fun day spending time with the entire family.

Friday night with JB & Dette Sallee

Lori and I decided to be apart of the "I shoot people" tour. We had a great time meeting and hanging out with JB and Dette Sallee of Sallee Photography. They are an amazing couple and we shared many similarities and it was just great to be able to talk and hangout with people who understand your type of work and the type of issue's you deal with on a daily basis.

Lori and I hope to be able to meet up with them again at Imaging USA in Phoenix and get together again for dinner and hang out some more. What a great mini-seminar right before TNPPA's this weekend. Looking forward to trying some of the great new things we learned and shared tonight.

Thanks guys you were awesome to hang out with and it was cool getting to know you both!!!

Crazy Friday!!!!

Today we were filled with great stuff to do. We started this morning at one of the clinics for one of our health care clients, doing promo material photos and clinic marketing spots.
We then met with one of our friends for a Senior session. Brian and his mom Pam came over to the studio and we were able to do a partial session for his yearbook today and will do the other half in the fall. When the temp is cooler and the leaves change and we don't have a deadline to work within. We also went over to the park and gets some shots around the Parthenon. Centennial Park is such a staple of Nashville, I love it and people love to have their pictures taken there.
Finally we ended the evening with a great party for one of Nashville's finest photographers. Russ had his birthday today. I will not tell how old he is but lets just say he is old enough to have taught me almost everything I know about great light and a way to see things and the world around you differently. He is an incredible guy and we love hanging out with him and Johnetta. They are great people. Oh and most importantly about Russ he coined the phrase "make something out of nothing" long before anyone in the industry even thought about it  or how to MacGyver through a shoot. Here's to your Russ!!!! You are awesome!!!!

Here are a few of Brian's pics....

This week....

We have been doing a lot of work since we arrived back in town. A couple of corporate jobs for my corporate client Healthmark and the Barr Group. Yesterday we also had Reiley come in to the Studio for her senior session. We had a great time hanging out and getting some great pictures even though it was really hot! :-) We were all sweating soon as we stepped outside but Lori was there to take care of the girls and keep them cool while we were shooting. It is awesome to have a great team to work with every day. Check out the results of what we have been doing for the past couple of weeks!

Here are a few images of Reiley's session.

A bit of travel

I have been in and out of town for the past few weeks. One thing in particular, Lori and I were able to go down to South Carolina for her Dad's 65 b-day. Arnie is an amazing guy and while we were celebrating his birthday at the lake house we did a little wake boarding on Bobby's boat. I have never been waking boarding before and so it was a lot of fun learning a new sport and taking pictures of the guys doing tricks. We had an amazing time while we were there for 4 days. Well hope to be able to visit with them again soon. Happy Birthday Arnie!!!

Rachel & Scott's Wedding day

Today was Rachel and Scott's wedding day. It was a gorgeous day and especially nice for a 4th of July holiday weekend. We were able to go to the Lowe's early and get some shots of the girls getting ready and hanging out before running over to the Gaylord Springs Country Club to start with shots of Scott and the guys over on the golf course. We had an amazing time and the day could just not have gone any better. We partied the night away literally and enjoyed some great food and music. Can't wait till they get back from Cancun to show them there great pictures before they move up to Pittsburgh. We wish them all the best as they begin there new journey!!!

We say farewell

Gabriel went to the airport today here in Nashville for his trip home to Brazil. We all wanted him to stay and be with us longer but his Mom was more than ademant about him coming home. :-)
We will see him again, maybe by the summer time. He is so cool I am really really going to miss him a great deal.

GAB WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!

Gabriel's last day

For those of you who know Gabriel Dominguez came from Brazil 11 months ago as an exchange student. He is absolutely amazing guy. I first got to know Gab really after the Halloween party last year at church. He came as the circus mime which sounds really silly and it was but his costume was so original and authentic you would have sworn he just left Barnum & Bailey and came in to the Youth group that night. Well long story short Gab won the costume contest with some lobbying by yours truly and we became friends.
In January Gab started being apart of my small group on Sunday night. I teach and work with the teens at our church and he ended up being one of my guys. Our group is called the "Double G" or "Gentry's Gentlemen". I had nothing to do with the title the guys made it up themselves but I do love it....what can I say it fits. :-)
So as with everyone else in my life who is important to me I asked to take pictures of them and he will be a senior this coming year in high school so we of course had a senior portrait session and then had some friends come over for a few as well. Everyone loves him and he is close to like everybody in our group so we had to keep numbers a little smaller than he wanted. The pics turned out awesome and Lori and I hope to visit Gabriel and his parents in Brazil sometime in the next year. We have even talked and hope to have him go on the senior trip next summer. Hopefully I can go and not have too much work on my plate. Peace out!!!

Krista & Tony Engagement

Today I was able to meet up with my new friends Krista and Tony. They are such great people! They both are so giving and show it in how they talk to you and each other. It is really cool to meet people who are truly in love and giving of themselves in their work life as well. We had a great time getting to know each other better and traveling around town getting some pictures along the way. We were all pretty tired and ready for some dinner by the time we were finished but it was so worth catching that great sunset. Let me know what you think about the new pics!!

Shana & James Wedding

This weekend I was able to be apart of my first Rabbi wedding! :-) Shana is a Rabbi with The Jewish Temple her in Nashville and her and James are an amazing couple. It was a beautiful day and they had been planning this day for months trying to get the plans laid out perfectly and they did just that. The food was exquisite and the family and friends were so gracious and we all had an incredible time celebrating their union. We were all having so much fun it barely felt as if I was working. What a wonderful day and an awesome couple!!!! Looking forward to getting together with them when they get back and sharing some great photos of the day.

Cara & Bart's Wedding

This past Saturday I was able to go and meet Cara & Bart for there wedding day. It was a cozy little wedding behind this nice house in the Old Hickory area. It was a gorgeous Saturday if you weren't aware. We had perfect weather and a really great time to go along with it. The building had this classic log cabin feel and the outside grounds were amazing with a little bit of wind to blow back Cara's veil. Congratulations and I look forward to seeing you guys when you get back from the Honeymoon!

THANK YOU!!!!!!! NIKON D3 Finally arrived....

Well I finally had "my" baby delivered to my house about a week ago after waiting several months after it's release, I have it. I love this new Nikon D3!!! It is hands down the greatest purchase of my life so far other than the engagement ring I gave my wife. Quick save right fellas!?!?!?
I am able to create absolutely amazing shots so much quicker than before. I never would have imagined that I would be this stoked and gaga over a camera like this Nikon. I feel like I just opened a whole new world for my creativity to spread and open.
I can not thank them enough but none.... absolutely none of this or anything else good in my life would have happened if I hadn't had such amazing parents. I know that sounds really cheesy but it is one of the 2 absolute truths in my life. The fact that they are no longer here hurts and pains me so but I work hard to continue to make them and the rest of my family proud. I love them and without them, my wife or my Church I would have nothing. Thank you God.

Grace Newborn Session

Today I was able to hangout with Baby Grace and her Mom & Dad (Amy & Brandt). Chandler referred Amy to me after doing Baby Madelynn's pics a few weeks ago. It has been a lot of fun working with children and baby's these past couple of weeks.
Baby Grace is soooo cute and sweet. She barely made a peep about me taking her pictures. We were able to go all over the house and spend a day in the life of Baby Grace and capture some sweet shots of her being herself with her Mom & Dad.

Kirstin & Matt's Wedding

On Friday the 9th Lori, Jamie, Melissa and myself were all at Matt and Kirstin's wedding at Riverwood Mansion. We had the event well covered with Lori helping direct traffic, and the rest of us shooting we were able to get a lot done for them and have a good time doing it!
It was a great day for a wedding, Kirstin and Matt have been so cool to get to know I could really not believe it has come so soon. It was really exciting to see our new friends so excited about the day. Kirstin had all of her girls from one of her dance classes come and participate in the event so it was really cool to see them so thrilled, jumping around and having fun there was 13 little girls in pink running around the beautiful bride. I can't wait to get these back to them before they get back from the Carribean.

Jayla & Cheryl Portrait Session

We have been moving the past week and to break up the madness Lori and I were able to go to the park for a little time hanging out with Cheryl and playing with her cute daughter Jayla. We met at Centennial Park in downtown and decided to go over to the flower garden close to the Parthenon. It was a beautiful morning and lucky for us the rain had stopped for a few hours and the sun came out for about 3 hours and we had our window of really great pictures. Lori and Jayla played in the flowers and ran around the garden before heading off for the day. We had a great time and really hope to do it again sometime. Jayla is such a Pro and great model that maybe someday we will see her in some GAP Kids ads or something before too long!

Great job Jayla can't wait to see you guys again!!!!

Schmerhorn - Hymn Sing

Sunday April 13th 2008 was an excellent Sunday. I was asked to participate and photograph in the Nashville Hymn Sing with the Nashville Choir & Nashville Symphony at the Schermerhorn in downtown. They invited an inspirational group to come and be apart for 2 shows on Sunday one matinee and one evening concert.

John Coates contacted me to come and photograph him with several of the guests and then take part in capturing images of the worship service. The guests I was able to meet while documenting John's day was Amy Grant, Bill Gaither and some other members of the the Gaither Family, Melinda Doolittle, and Travis Cottrell. Everyone was extremely nice and just made for a tremendous afternoon to be able to be apart of such an event and hear such amazing talent. I feel really blessed to be apart of our Christian community.

I was fortunate to have my family in the audience and particularly my Grandma who was thrilled to say the least that I could get her a ticket for the day. :-)

I was also able to reconnect with Matt Andrews a friend of mine and fellow photographer who was also hired to come and participate for the afternoon.

The hall itself is exuisitly decorated and probably the most beautiful building in downtown Nashville to say the least. This is my third time to be apart of events down at the hall and I hope many more will follow for both business and personal.

Baby Madelynn

This afternoon I had the pleasure of visiting with some good friends, Paul and Chandler. I was blessed to be apart of their wedding day in July of 2006 and today they allowed me the honor of photographing their new addition to the family, Madelynn. Paul and Chandler are the proud parents of this little cutie and they should be she is adorable. Madelynn or"Squirelly" as they call her was amazing for her first photo session with me and briefly lived up to her sweet nickname. We had a great time catching up and I hope to take many more photographs for her as she grows up.

Super Monday!!!

Today was my first SUPER MONDAY!!!!!! I have to say at first I was dreading it since I was a little tired from a great wedding day yesterday but was really glad once I arrived at the Hampton Inn in Green Hills for the seminar. David Wright was our speaker and he taught us about how we can better ourselves and our photography by taking the time to work hard and earn our degrees and certification from PPA of which we are all members. PPA is a great organization to be apart of for anyone from an aspiring photographer or if your an old pro. You will love the networking, the great people, and enhancing your skill as well as getting to know other wonderful photographers in your area or nationally.
For those of you who know David, this comes as no surprise but I love to see and be around him. He has an amazing attitude is an exceptionally gracious human being and if you didn't know anything else he is easily the best wedding photographer in Nashville today. Can you tell I admire him?!?!? Plus I hadn't seen David since we were at Imaging USA earlier this year in Tampa.
Today we were able to bring in some of our work and talk about our images and get feedback on what we are doing today in photography. I was fortunate to meet some other really cool photographers of which I already knew Joe Burlingame which was a great surprise to see him again since it has been a few years now since we worked together. Joe is a really great commercial photographer and all around great photographer. I was also able to get to know Scott & Kimberly Butler of Butler Photography from Florence AL who are a really sweet husband and wife team and do some timeless portrait artistry and also Elaine Hudson from A Private Gathering, she is really sweet and fun to be around and I hope to be able to get to know all of them so much better in the future. Not to be cheesy but what a Super Monday it was. I am excited to go again and to get the prints going for some competition.

Katie & Jason Wedding on Sunday April 4th 2008

Yesterday was an amazing day! I was able to photograph Katie and Jason's Wedding here in Nashville. We had wonderful weather 70's, sunny and a little wind which anyone would love to . Both of their families were so gracious and wonderful to work with we really had a great time. We started off the day with some outdoor pictures before going in for some family pictures before the ceremony.
I have to brag on them for such a incredibly unique bridal party entrance into the reception. Katie had the girls wear sashes as if they were in a pageant or Miss America and then Jason had his boys come out wearing custom made basketball jerseys and did a hilarious intro with them dancing or dribbling in to the reception it was great!!!
A good time was had by all who attended the reception and then we topped the night off with some really cool dusk shots outside of the Union Station Hotel as well as doing some stuff inside the Hotel and in their room before saying our Good-bye's. I know they will have a wonderful time on the honeymoon and really enjoyed getting to know them better they are amazing friends. It was an awesome day!!!

Brian & Cara Wedding Day

On Saturday we were able to be apart of Brian & Cara's special day. The first half of the day we were able to take pictures before the ceremony and get some really fun pictures in and around the mansion. Even though the weather changed later and it rained the rest of the evening we were very fortunate to have the fantastic staff from Riverwood Mansion there to help keep things organized and running smooth. Plus everyone from the wedding party was so cool and willing to work with them and help support Brian & Cara. We had a great time and were also able to meet with Lisa and Carlos from White Chocolate Video who was there to video the event. It was a an amazing event and a great way to end March.
