John's Feature in Enchanted Brides Magazine 2010

The New Year is off to a great start! We greeted newly engaged brides at the Enchanted Brides Show at the Hutton Hotel January 7th (possibly the coldest day ever in Nashville) Despite the freezing temps and snow flurries we met lots of great people!

Look for John's  awesome photography featured on 7 pages in the latest Edition of Enchanted Brides magazine! This is the best resource for Middle Tennesee Brides. The highest quality vendors in every category.

Maria's July wedding with Spring weather

Maria & Eric were married this month and it was the most unusual weather for July- perfect like Spring.
The ceremony was in St. Matthews Catholic Church. Both the groom and brides family surrounded the couple for a group prayer during the ceremony which was such a neat way to start their marriage. Maria's father composed the music for the wedding and voilins, violas and cellos made for such a romantic mood. The girls all had their hair styled at Rodney Mitchell Hair Salon prior to arriving at the church. The reception would also be at The Factory of Franklin- Jamison Hall. In honor of guests a donation was made to Breast Cancer Research Foundation and the Tri-State Multiple Sclerosis Assoc.  This couple is so kind and generous- they will be a dymanic duo. The reception was catered by Ambrosia Catering and the bride gave all her bridesmaids handmade crystal jewelry to wear for the special day.  After working with Maria for a year it was great to see all her dreams come true for her wedding. Thanks so much for including us!!

June... our favorite wedding month!

We love June! We were married in June and it is our favorite time of year to celebrate with other couples too. Here are some photographs of 2 great weddings we want to feature for this month's post.

Tiffany & Jim - Romance with some Chinese Style
This bride wanted to honor her groom's heritage and his parents who traveled all the way from China!

Andrea & Andrew wed on  June 27, 2009

The wedding was at Woodmont Baptist Church where the groom's father is the Pastor. The Bride was absolutely beautiful and so much fun to work with during the day. She planned so many great details that the whole event was perfect. Her coordinator Julie Fletcher did a great job on decor. The reception was at Embassy Suites in Cool Springs. Andrea was our feature bride this year in both HER magazine Nashville and Enchanted Brides Magazine. This couple was a joy to work with!

TN Professional Photographers Conference

We are honored to be member of the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association. This week we participated in the Summer Conference and took six 4 hour classes with the most talented photographers in the United States. It is such a privledge to learn from seasoned peers who have worked in the business 10-25 years. They are so willing to share their knowledge and guidance for the good of our industry it is just awesome. Photographers are some of the most generous and loving people in the world. Often people who are interested in a photography career ask us what to do to get started- the answer is EDUCATION and membership to PPA & TN PPA or the chapter in whatever state you live in.
Here are the names of people we suggest you go to for seminars. They all have so many degrees and awards there are too many to list.

Highschool Sweethearts

Molly & Clay are such a great couple. They dated in highschool and college and their love for each other is so authentic. It was our joy to photograph their wedding day in Alabama at the Sonnet House. Their wedding party was huge & so fun... 11 bridemaids & groomsman. Most were graduates from University of Alabama. Ya gotta love the enthusiasm in the south! Molly's dress was handmade by the fabulous dress designer Heidi Elnora. Check out her gowns- she is awesome and has stores in both Atlanta & Birmingham.

The wedding was outside and the alter was beautifully located under the trees- just like something you would read in a novel. The party was fun and full of great dancing and mingling with all their family friends. We wish you too the best as you move to Los Angelos & start a new life! J& L

Molly came to our studio in April to have some bridal portraits done. You can see more of those on our website. She is so gorgeous!

Lori's First Blog Post- John is CPP?

Hi- I am the "behind the scenes girl" of John Gentry Photography. My name is Lori, I am the business manager and lucky for me- John's wife! :)

I have decided it is time to start some blog chatting and brag about my talented boss. He is so busy that he forgets to post his cool new work and special announcements. So here we go with my blog post #1

John has recently earned the mark of excellence as a Certified Professional Photographer in May 2009. Less than 3% of all photographers are certified. He achieved this designation after meeting rigorous requirements measuring his artistic and technical competence by the Professional Photographic Certification Commission. To become a C.P.P one must complete a written exam, image evaluation and adhere to a stringent code of conduct. I am very proud of him. Our clients can have full confidence in John's work. He continually studies new techniques and takes classes to achieve new levels of quality art. CONGRATS JOHN!
